Great Initiatives Happen with Rotary
Literacy for Elementary

Marshall Noon Rotary recently hosted a heartwarming Literacy Event aimed at encouraging a love of reading among elementary-aged students in our community. The event took place in conjunction with Parent Teacher Conferences at Southview Elementary, where students were invited to select a book of their choice to take home. The excitement on the students’ faces as they chose their own books was a testament to the power of reading and the joy it brings.

In addition to the book giveaway at Southview, third grade students at True Light Christian School and Samuel Lutheran School received personal dictionaries, helping to build vocabulary and support lifelong learning.

This event reflects Rotary International’s broader commitment to literacy and education. Rotary’s global literacy goals include:

  • Strengthening community capacity to support basic education and literacy.
  • Increasing adult literacy through community-based programs.
  • Reducing gender disparities in access to education.
  • Supporting basic education for children and adults alike.

By providing books and dictionaries to local students, Marshall Noon Rotary is helping lay the foundation for lifelong learning and empowering young minds in our community. These efforts align with Rotary’s mission to promote education, reduce poverty, and foster sustainable development—starting with the essential skill of literacy.

Marshall Noon Rotary is proud to support our local schools and students, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to foster a strong foundation of literacy in Marshall.
